This is how I setup Pymol before visualization and posing of different molecules.
Open Pymol and load the pdb file.
Set background color to white: Display > Background > White
To hide double bonds: Display > Uncheck Show Valences
To display the molecule in maximum quality: Display > Quality > Maximum Quality
To only show the side chain of a residue:
set cartoon_side_chain_helper, 1orset cartoon_side_chain_helper, on
